Black spruce (Picea mariana) is a hardy, evergreen tree. Native to northern North America, widely distributed in the United States and the Great Lakes region of Canada, from Alaska to Newfoundland and the northeast, central and southeastern United States in the Kutchan Black Mountain region and in western Montana.
The latitude spans 44-69N, which is vertically distributed from sea level to 1500 meters above sea level, forming a broad forest belt. It is one of the important tree species and hardy conifer species. It is also the most widely distributed conifer species in North America and is the most important tree species in the United States and Canada.
Black spruce trunk straight, excellent material. In the southern part of the area, the trunk is as high as 24 to 42 meters and the DBH is 0.6 to 1.2 meters. With beautiful tree shape, crown umbrella type, dry and straight, sharp and thin cut, coniferous gray and green, its wood is yellow-white and soft, and it is one of the important sources of raw paper pulp. Can also be used for construction, civil use and as an ornamental tree species.

The black spruce native to the frigid forests of the Northern Hemisphere is an extremely hardy evergreen coniferous tree that can survive for 250-350 years and is the most widely coniferous tree in North America. Plants can be up to 30 meters long, with drooping branches, the entire tree layers arranged, straight gray, blue-green needles spirally around the stem, the crown is conical. The wooden spruce of the black spruce is hung with oval bracts, with inwardly curved bracts that, when ripe, will open to allow the black obovate seeds to fall off.
